The design of this Five Pound coin was inspired by the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was designed by Mary Milner-Dickens. Detail of the decorative iron frame of the Crystal Palace, built to house the Exhibition, is divided by a 'V' which contains a youthful portrait of Victoria and the centenary dates: '1901 · 2001'.
