Keith Rodney Park in (Born in Thames, New Zealand, on June 15 1892 was in command of Britain's crucial No. 11 Group RAF Fighter Command (south east England) during the Battle of Britain. Park had been a WWI fighter "Ace) scoring 20 victories. he remained in the RAF between the wars and during WWII was appointed senior air staff officer to Hugh Dowding. During the Battle of Britain. Park brilliantly coordinated the data from radar and the Observer Corps and directed Britain's dwindling fighter resources to devastating effect. Sidney Camm's contribution was equally valuable he designed the Hawker the Hawker Hurricane fighter, which actually shot down many more German aircraft during the Battle of Britain than the Spitfire James "Ginger" Lacy was one one of the highest scoring pilots of the Battle of Britain, with 18 claimed victories. He was himself shot down or forced to land nine times! He died on May 30th 1989 at the age of 72. The battle was officially fought from 10th July to 31 October 1940.
