The obverse of the Isle of Man crowns shows the profile of Queen Elizabeth II.
The reverse of the crowns depict shipping, spanning the ten centuries of Tynwald.
The figure standing in the prow of the foreground vessel is the Norse hero, Godred Crovan who defeated the Manx King Fingal II in 1079 and established the dynasty that ruled till 1290. The finely carved prow is based on the Gokstad ship, now preserved in a Swedish museum. The inset cartouche shows Tynwald Hill.
