THE NAMING OF QUEEN ELIZABETH LAND

This striking new currency celebratory coin was issued by The British Antarctic Territory to commemorate the renaming of piece of the land to 'Queen Elizabeth Land' as a mark of regard to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the Diamond Jubilee Year of her Crowning.
The announcement of the naming of Queen Elizabeth Land was made by the Foreign Secretary, The Right Hon. William Hague on 18th December 2012 when Her Majesty the Queen visited the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as her last official engagement in her Diamond Jubilee of her Accession Year.
This brand-new coin shows the whole British Antarctic Territory, together with an outline where Queen Elizabeth Land is in the southern area of the Territory. A cameo picture of Her Majesty based upon her visit to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office also shows up on the coin, together with the text 'Queen Elizabeth Land' and the denomination £2. The obverse of the coin holds a fine effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.

The coin is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and presented in a Westminster luxurious Folder.
