Struck in 999 Silver, these one ounce coins are issued in a protective plastic capsule. The reverse of the coin features an engraving of two koalas, an adult and infant, sat on a branch. The coin bears the inscription AUSTRALIAN KOALA 2011 999 SILVER and P the mint mark for the Perth Mint.
The obverse features the fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The coin features the inscription ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA . 1 DOLLAR.
