Football fans link the name "Stanley Matthews" to one of the greatest dribblers in football history. For this reason, the obverse of this medal depicts a portrait of "Sir Stan", but also a picture of him as a magician with a football. This star, who was born in 1915, on his 50th birthday Stanley Matthews became the first British footballer to be Knighted. Since then , he has simply been known as "Sir Stan", Stan died on 23 February 2000.
